The closing ceremony of the 31st edition of the Turin Film Festival took place on Saturday, 30 November, and as the official sponsor of the event, Maserati witnessed first-hand the excitement of the awards by accompanying the winning actors and directors onto the red carpet with the new Maserati Quattroporte.

First to arrive was Eugenio Mira, director of the closing film of the Festival “Grand Piano”, starring Elijah Wood and John Cusack, followed by Ennio Fantastichini and Edoardo Leo, who presented “La mossa del pinguino” in Turin.

First prize went to “Club Sandwich” by Mexican director Fernando Eimbcke and the Special Jury Prize to the French film “2 automnes 3 hivers” by Sébastien Betbeder. “Pelo Malo” by Mariana Rondon scooped two awards: Best Actress for Samantha Castillo and Best Screenplay. Best Actor was awarded to Gabriel Arcand for the Canadian film “Le démantèlement” by Sébastien Pilote.

Receiver of the Audience Award was director Pierfrancesco “Pif” Diliberto, for the outstanding quality and content of his debut movie: “La mafia uccide solo d’ estate”.

With its new director Paolo Virzi, who has skillfully blended the programming of the Turin Film Festival auteur films with the more commercial kinds set for the big screen and general public, the 31st edition of the Turin Film Festival ended with great success both in terms of audience and critics, with a 34% increase at the box office compared to last year.

The House of the Trident, who also sponsored the 70th Venice International Film Festival, bids farewell to the 31st Turin Film Festival after bringing its unmistakable, glamorous touch to the red carpet of this major event in international cinema.
